Walsh is proud to support the Hummingbird House charity ride, an event which was recently held on Saturday 27 February.
Hummingbird House is Queensland’s only children’s hospice, providing accommodation and care at the end of life for children with a life-limiting condition and their families.
The charity ride was organised by the Gold Coast based Good Times Running Club. The event attracted over 50 riders and raised in excess of $9,000 for Hummingbird House.
Our Focus Advisory leader, Mark Wood-Collier, participated in the 100km cycling event.
“It’s great that Walsh could support this cause. The work Hummingbird House does makes such a difference to the children and their families,” said Mark.
The course featured one of the Gold Coast’s premier cycling routes ā the Two Valleys.
The out-and-back themed route sees riders set out from Tallebudgera beach and head west, gradually climbing through Tallebudgera Valley. After a brief recovery on the return to the heart of Palm Beach, riders head west and up, again, through Currumbin Valley. The final leg of the course returns riders to Tallebudgera beach.
“The Two Valleys is a great hit out and we were lucky to have perfect conditions on the morning of the charity ride. We were concerned earlier in the week that bad weather would force a reschedule of the event,” said Mark. āI was really impressed with the calibre of riders and the generosity of the support crew. Without them, the event wouldnāt have been such a success.ā
Walsh would like to congratulate Good Times Running Club on a safe and well attended event and thank all the participants and support crews for their efforts on the day.
