At Walsh Accountants, our connection to the Gold Coast community runs deep. One of the most cherished partnerships we’ve nurtured over the years is our longstanding sponsorship of the Surfers Paradise AFL Club (SPAFC) which spans decades and generations.
Our Founding Director Graham Walsh, affectionately known as āStorky,ā was not only a leader in business but also a football legend. He captained SPAFC through its golden era, leading the senior team to consecutive premiership victories in 1967, 1968, and 1969. His contributions to the club earned him a life membership, cementing a bond that endures to this day.
This legacy continues to thrive within the Walsh family. Tom Walsh, current Director of the firm and Graham’s son, proudly wore the SPAFC jumper as a Junior player from 1985 to 1992. The family tradition didn’t stop there—Tom’s son Hudson, Graham’s grandson, also followed in his footsteps, playing for five years as a Junior. With three generations contributing to the club’s legacy, sponsoring SPAFC was a natural and heartfelt decision for us.
A Lifelong Love for AFL
When asked about a favourite AFL team, there’s a playful divide in the Walsh family, making it hard to choose just one. But one thing they agree on? A favourite player – Dustin Martin, whose work ethic and on-field tenacity resonates with our own approach to business.
A Deep Connection to the Gold Coast
As a family business, deeply rooted in the Gold Coast, we understand the importance of community engagement. After decades in business, one of the most valuable lessons we’ve learned is that opportunity is everywhere – if you’re willing to see it. For Walsh Accountants, this means staying committed to the people, businesses, and organisations that make our community strong. Whether it’s through sponsorship of the Surfers Paradise AFL Club or the advice we give to our clients, we’re proud to play our part in fostering a thriving Gold Coast community.
This is more than just business to us – it’s personal. It’s a family legacy of community support, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for the Surfers Paradise AFL Club and the wider Gold Coast community.
